9 Best Things to do in Paros, Greece

Paros, a charming Greek island located in the Aegean Sea’s Cyclades, entices visitors with its breathtaking scenery, fascinating past, and lively culture. Paros offers something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a relaxed beach vacation, an investigation of historic ruins, or a taste of traditional Greek food. The top nine activities on this lovely island that will make your trip genuinely unforgettable are covered in this article.

1. The Fishing Village Naousa

I highly recommend staying in the fishing town called Naousa located in the north of the Island. Naturally, Naoussa is the #1 option among loyal repeat tourists to Paros. This beautiful fishing village is filled with character and there are many restaurants to choose from. Perfect for getting lost in its narrow walkways for a small adventure and watching its beautiful sunsets in the evenings.

2. kolympethres Beach

One of my favorite beaches on the Island, it’s so interesting due to its huge blocks of granite stretched across its coastline. With sunbeds for hire and cute but narrow sandy coves. The waters are clear and warm even up until September. I recommend visiting between June and September.

3. Lefkes Village

Lefkes, a much-loved village used to be the capital of Paros in the Middle Ages. So if you’re after a rich cultural experience you can have a stroll through or around the main village. A striking structure here is the main church which is made from fine white marble.

4. Saint Pantes, Peak of Paros

At the peak, there is a radio tower, it’s super windy but you will get a 360-degree view of Paros. Perfect for pictures and to enjoy the beautiful aesthetic Paros has to offer.

5. Monastiri Beach

If you want to indulge you can rent a lounge bed and umbrella and have pricey foods and drinks delivered to you. Otherwise, here is a tip, bring your own food and snacks and lounge on the rocks. Looking across the bay you will find the Monastery of St. Johns of Detie which is within walking distance and perfect for pictures.

6. Santa Maria Beach

To the north of the Island, there is also the Santa Marian beach which welcomes a delightful experience for those beach lovers out there.

7. Faragas Beach Bar

On the complete opposite side of the Island to the South is the Faragas Beach Bar worth a stop. It’s also another location perfect for those looking to indulge in some sun beds and drinks and food.

8. Piso Lavadi

Also having a great beach for a swim, Piso Lavadi was a great place to try out some Saganaki which is a traditional Greek dish that consists of fried cheese. The beach is great as it’s very convenient and has a local vibe to it.

9. St. Antonios Monastery

Getting to St. Antonios Monastery consists of going through a dirt road taking you up the mountain so I highly recommend renting a car for as low as $20 per day. You will need to park your car and walk the rest of the way up. This Monastery is one of the oldest on the Island founded in 1597 and you will get a 360-degree view of the Island.

Tip: Check the opening hours as it usually does not open until 2 PM.

Best way to get around

The best way to get around Paros is by renting a scooter, ATV, or a small car which you can get as cheap as $20 per day, allowing you to explore the island’s picturesque villages, beautiful beaches, and scenic landscapes at your own pace. Paros has well-maintained road networks, and renting a vehicle provides flexibility and convenience.

The best time to visit Paros

Despite being near some of Greece’s most popular vacation spots, Paros is nevertheless a more tranquil island to explore year-round. The shoulder seasons of late April to early June or September to October are the ideal times to go. Although there are fewer people around at this time, the warm weather and sea are still there for you to enjoy.

How many days should you stay in Paros?

Even though you could easily stay in Paros all summer, five days is the ideal length of time. It is worthwhile to explore the island for longer than a few days because there are so many things to do there. Beginning at Parikia, travel to Naoussa, and then turn east along the route, passing some of Paros, Greece’s most breathtaking views.
